Storm & Hail Damage in Austin
Storm Damage in Austin, Travis County
Austin is a short drive from our Leander home base, and we cover North and Central Austin regularly. From older homes near Hyde Park to newer builds in Mueller and Circle C, Recon Roofing handles replacements, repairs, storm damage, and outdoor builds across the city.
After the Storm
Hail and wind damage are not always obvious from the ground. We do free post-storm inspections where we get on the roof, check every section, and document what we find with photos. You get an honest report of what is damaged and what is fine.
For the full detail on how we handle storm damage, including cost, materials, and common questions, see our storm damage page.
Storm Damage Permits in Austin
Austin exempts most residential re-roofs from permitting. Asphalt shingles replacing existing asphalt shingles are exempt, as is replacement of any roof covering that does not adversely affect the roof structure. There is one local catch worth knowing about: if the property sits in the Austin Wildland-Urban Interface area and 50 percent or more of the roofing is being replaced, the exemption does not apply and you need a permit. Roof decking repairs are also exempt up to 128 square feet, beyond which they are not.
We pull the permit as part of the job. Source: City of Austin work exempt from building permits.
