Common Questions

How do I know if I have hail damage?
Often you cannot tell from the ground. Bruised shingles show as soft dark spots where the granules were knocked loose, and they may not leak for a year or more. Easier tells are dents on gutters, downspouts, window screens, and the metal fins of your air conditioner. If those are dinged, the roof took the same hail.
How long do I have to file a claim?
Check your policy, because carriers set their own notice requirements and some are stricter than people expect. The short answer is do not wait. The longer the gap between the storm and the claim, the harder it gets to prove the damage came from that event rather than age.
Should I call a roofer or my insurance company first?
